BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 22. Azerbaijan exported methanol worth $23.8 million in January through February 2022, Trend reports citing the statistics report of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.
Some 96,000 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) have been produced in total. During the reporting period, 77.56 percent, or 74,460 tons of methanol were exported from the country, while in the same period of 2021, its production and export were not carried out in Azerbaijan.
In accordance with the report, the share of methanol in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector exports amounted to 5.16 percent, and in overall exports – 0.4 percent during January through February 2022.
As of March 1, 2022, there are 31,000 tons of manufactured goods.
SOCAR Methanol LLC of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is engaged in the production of methanol in Azerbaijan. The plant is the only producer of methyl alcohol in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, which has started functioning since January 2014. The annual capacity of the plant is around 720,000 tons.
