BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. More than 6.4 billion manats ($3.7 billion) have been invested in the industrial zones of Azerbaijan, to date, Trend reports referring to the statement of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.

"Industrial zones are a favorable mechanism in terms of expanding production in the country, import substitution and creating new export opportunities. To date, 95 business entities have received the status of a resident of industrial zones, 58 of them have already begun their activities. Entrepreneurs have invested more than 6.4 billion manat ($3.7 billion) in industrial zones and created more than 9,700 permanent jobs. The next stage of existing projects provides for additional investments in industrial zones in the amount of more than 400 million manat ($235.2 million) and the creation of more than 3,200 new jobs," the message said.

Enterprises operating in industrial zones sold products worth 436 million manat ($256.4 million), of which products worth 191 million manat ($112.3 million) were exported from January through February 2022.

Sales of industrial zone products increased by 76 percent compared to the same period in 2021, while exports increased by 138 percent.

Industrial zones generally produced goods worth 6.3 billion manat ($3.7 billion), exported - worth 2 billion manat ($1.1 billion) or about 32percent. Export was carried out in more than 35 countries of the world.
