BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. Azerbaijan's retail trade turnover reached 22.5 billion manat ($13.2 billion), increasing by 2.9 percent, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee.

Out of the total trade activity, food, beverage, and tobacco turnover amounted to 12.6 billion manat, or $7.4 billion (growth of 2.3 percent), while non-food products – 9.9 billion manat, or $5.8 billion (growth of 3.6 percent) from January through June 2022 compared to the same period of 2021.

As the Committee noted, 51.2 percent of the population's expenses fell on food products, 4.9 percent – on drinks and tobacco products, 12.7 percent – on textiles, clothing, and footwear, 5.7 percent – on gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.8 percent – on electrical items and furniture, 2.5 percent – on pharmaceuticals and medicines, 1.1 percent – on computers, telecommunications equipment, and printed matter, and 17.1 percent – on other non-food products in the first half of 2022.

The value of private sector goods in the reporting period amounted to 99.7 percent of the total retail turnover, growing by 3.2 percent against the same period of 2021.

The retail trade activity on enterprises increased by six percent, on markets and fairs – by 7.5 percent, and on individual businessmen decreased by one percent from January through June 2022 compared to the same period of 2021.

The average monthly turnover of retail trade per capita amounted to 373.5 manat ($219.9), including food, beverages and tobacco products – 209.6 manat ($123.4), and non-food products – 163.9 manat ($96.49).
