BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. The majority of the settlements in Azerbaijan's trade turnover were made in freely convertible currency from January through July, Trend reports via the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

The settlements in freely convertible currency for export operations increased by $4.5 billion, or 72.31 percent, year-on-year - from $6.2 billion to $10.7 billion (47.53 percent of all types of export settlements).

The settlements in freely convertible currency on import operations increased by $1.3 billion (24.88 percent), exceeding $6.5 billion (87.19 percent of all types of import settlements) against $5.2 billion the previous year.

As of the beginning of August, settlements in Azerbaijani manat for Azerbaijan's export operations increased from $9.4 million to $41.8 million (by 4.41 times) year-on-year. In import operations, this indicator has increased by 77.81 percent over the year, reaching $35.5 million against $19.9 million.

The amount of other export transactions increased by $6.6 billion, or 2.28 times - to $11.7 billion ($5.1 billion for the same period last year). The share of other export transactions amounted to 52.17 percent of all types of settlements against 45.2 percent from January through July 2021. For import operations in this category, a decline of $263.9 million, or 45.56 percent, was recorded – from $579.3 million to $315.4 million. The share of such transactions in all types of import settlements amounted to 9.2 percent.

Exports in Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through July 2022 amounted to $22.5 billion, and imports – were $7.4 billion.
