BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov held a working meeting on current issues and upcoming tasks related to the food wheat production in the country, as well as got acquainted with the activities of 'Aghsu Agropark' in Aghsu on September 12, the country's Cabinet of Ministers told Trend.

The working meeting involving the heads of relevant public agencies and private agricultural enterprises raised issues related to implementation of Presidential Decree No. 1754 "On a number of measures aimed at increasing self-sufficiency regarding food wheat" dated July 19, 2022.

The meeting participants exchanged views on global challenges in food safety, existing problems in Azerbaijan's food wheat production, upcoming tasks, and state support tools in line with the Decree.

Furthermore, various reports were delivered by the heads of relevant public bodies, as well as problems and proposals of food wheat producers, implementing or planning to introduce modern irrigation systems, were presented during the session.

The prime minister stressed that the government would support milling wheat producers and also pointed out the expansion of areas suitable for sowing, increasing the productivity and quality of milling grain, introducing modern technologies, and economical use of water resources among the primary objectives ahead.

At the end of the meeting, government agencies were tasked with accelerating the implementation process of the Azerbaijani president's Decree.
