Türkiye reveals volume of petrochemicals received by local ports for 8M2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. Turkish ports handled over 50.8 million tons of petrochemicals from January through August 2022, Türkiye’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period, Turkish-flagged ships transshipped 2.5 million tons of petrochemicals to Turkish ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries – over 48.3 million tons.

Meanwhile, over 32.6 million tons of petrochemicals were transited through the Turkish ports.

In the first eight months of 2022, Turkish ports totally handled 264.6 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Türkiye through local ports in the specified period amounted to 18.9 million tons, and by ships under the flags of other countries – 245.69 million tons.

Meanwhile, Turkish ports handled 54 million tons of transit cargo.

In 2021, the ports of Türkiye received 386.39 million tons of cargo.

During the reporting year, freight transportation by Turkish-flagged ships via domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons, whereas the cargo traffic by ships flying other countries' flags reached 356.39 million tons.

Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78 million tons of transit cargo last year.
