BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 19. Azerbaijan imported 328,542 tons of wheat from January through May 2024, which is 27.02 percent (121,609 tons) less than the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan data showed that wheat imports topped $72.67 million (a 46.13 percent reduction, or $62.2 million) during the reporting period.
Meanwhile, the share of wheat imports in the reporting period amounted to one percent of Azerbaijan’s total imports.
To note, Azerbaijan's food imports increased by 3.4 percent ($31.39 million) in value terms and amounted to $953.36 million from January through May 2024.
The country imported more than 1.17 million tons of wheat last year, which is 9.1 percent (117,655 tons) less than the 2022 figure.
