Uzbekistan and Hungary will implement three joint investment projects in the field of food and agricultural industries, Trend reports referring to Dunyo information agency.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Siyarto and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov discussed multifaceted cooperation between the countries.

Peter Siyjarto noted that the Uzbek market is of great interest to most Hungarian enterprises, and the government of Uzbekistan supports their aspirations due to the excellent political relations between the countries.

He said that an important agreement has been reached to simplify the registration of Hungarian medicines on the Uzbek market.

“Hungarian Richter pharmaceutical company has been present on the Uzbek market for 25 years and 80 names of its products are registered in the country. In the first half of this year, medical preparations worth $12 million were exported to Uzbekistan," he stressed.

The Hungarian company, with financial assistance from Uzbek Eximbank, is supplying Uzbek banks with 3,000 Hungarian ATMs, and preparations are underway for the implementation of three joint Hungarian-Uzbek investment projects in the food and agricultural industries related to cattle breeding, grain processing, and the construction of a plant for the production of vegetable oils.

“Uzbekistan plans to build a nuclear power plant with the assistance of the Russian corporation Rosatom and an agreement has been reached on Hungary's participation in the training of future Uzbek nuclear engineers and specialists. This became possible due to the increase in the number of scholarship holders from Uzbekistan studying in Hungary to 100 people from next year,” Siyarto added.

In addition, he said that Hungary supports Uzbekistan's negotiations with the European Union on expanding the Partnership Agreement, as well as on joining the World Trade Organization.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister also stressed that thanks to close political and economic cooperation, there are no obstacles to deepening trade, as evidenced by the fact that despite the pandemic, in the first eight months of this year, bilateral trade grew by 21 percent.
