Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend U.Ismaylova / The Head of the Press Service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Elnur Kelenterli, said at a 19 September press conference that the Ministry's Labor Inspector closed the Baku construction sites of two companies, Star MMC and Yuksel Insaat.
The inspector regularly holds surprise inspections regarding labor contracts and violations of safety regulations.
According to Kelenterli, in the past week the Inspector surprised eighteen construction companies, shutting down two companies' activities due to violations in safety regulations. In addition, fines were imposed and warnings were made to the other sixteen companies. Inspections are continuing with twenty-one more companies.
Kelenterli said that mainly the inspections are held regarding four issues:
- fulfilling labor agreements;
- accurately defining salaries in the agreements;
- following construction safety regulations;
- hiring illegal immigrant workers.
