Moscow is Major Strategic Partner for   Azerbaijan: Azerbaijani First Vice Premier

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / A protocol of the 6th meeting of the intergovernmental commission implementation of an agreement between Azerbaijan and Moscow on cooperation in the trade-economic, scientific-technical and culture sections was signed in Baku on 4 October. The document was undersigned by Yagub Eyyubov, the Azerbaijani First Vice Premier and Lyudmila Shvetzova, the deputy chairman of the Moscow Government.

Addressing the gathering Eyyubov, also co-chair of the commission, said that Moscow is the major strategic partner for Azerbaijan. The first vice premier invited the Moscow-based companies to develop relations with Azerbaijan in the fields of tourism and construction..

Shvetsov voiced Moscow's inetention to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the fields of health and development and development of high medical technologies, which Moscow can supply. It is also planned to set up broad cooperation in the sphere of education.

The intergovernmental commission is active since 1997. Goods turnover between the countries reached some $1.5bln.
