Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 March / corr. Trend U. Ismayilova/ Azerbaijan is not in a hurry to enter the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ziyad Samadzade, the chairman of the parliament committee on economic issues said.

" Azerbaijan plans to enter the organization within the cooperation with the international organizations, but it is too early to presume when it will take place," Samadzade said.

WTO is one of authoritative organizations who liberalize world trade relations, and Azerbaijan has been an observer country in WTO since 1997.

According to Samadzade, the county should be well-prepared for its entry to the Organization so as to avoid the bad impact as in the case of CIS countries ( Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan). These countries were not able to demonstrate high growth rates amongst other members after they entered the organization.

According to international experts, while entering the organization, the above-mentioned countries had high growth rates of economy which led to their entrance to WTO. However, after 5 years the growth rates of economy of these countries decreased significantly contrary to the expectations of the international organizations which showed that these countries did not meet the standards of the organization.

Azerbaijan will make changes and amendments to the customs and tax codes in order for the Azerbaijani legislation to conform to WTO standards. " Azerbaijan should not repeat the mistakes of those countries that entered the organization and then were unable to show positive growth rates," Samadzade said.
