Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 September / Trend corr. U.Ismayilova/ "There is no Ukrainian vegetable oil, in which European countries found detriment to human health substances, in Azerbaijan's consumer market," Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry State Service for Consumer Market Control said on 9 September.
"Three weeks ago we were informed of the quality of Ukrainian vegetable oil and held a monitoring at the consumer market. As a result, 1,140 litres of oil was revealed and eliminated," State Service said.
According to the State Service, the monitoring revealed that only one company, the name of which was not divulged, imports Ukrainian vegetable oil to Azerbaijan via Italy. The goods of the company were eliminated.
"Monitoring exercises are underway to reveal presence of detriment to health Ukrainian vegetable oil, but no new fact has been revealed so far," State Service said.
"There is no Ukrainian vegetable oil with oil product admixtures in Azerbaijan," Azerbaijan State Agency on Standardization, Metrology and Patents said.
The State Agency said they received a letter about revealing detriment to health Ukrainian sunflower-seed oil in March. The relevant monitoring did not reveal any new importers of this product to Azerbaijan.
"On the whole, State Agency on Standardization, Metrology and Patents has not received any appeal by importers to obtain certificate to import Ukrainian sunflower-seed oil to Azerbaijan," a source in the Agency said.
Many European countries, especially France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and other countries, withdrew all vegetable oil imported from Ukraine from all warehouses, trade mediators and foodstuff facilities because of the revealed harmful substances. According to early report, the mineral admixture revealed in the oil is oil products.
European Commission has issued a warning for all EU member states about the harmful Ukrainian oil.
Oil products are more likely got into the oil by accident. The oil was kept in a tank where substances containing oil products were kept before, EU experts say.
