Turkmenistan prepares for cotton sowing

Turkmenistan aiming to gather 1 million tones of raw cotton in 2009 prepares to conduct spring sowing campaign, Turkmenbahizmat (Turkmen agricultural technique) state association said.

Thus, 545,000 hectare areas are allotted for sowing, which 100,000 tones less compared to the last years.

In 2008 cotton-growers managed to gather the same volume slightly exceeding the index of 2007.

The most part of arable technique which is over 1,700 tractors, mainly; of John Deere and Case U.S corporations are used in plowing and agrarian operations.

So, 1,000 wheeled arable tractors, mainly, Belarus-80X, used for surface tillage are concentrated at fields.

Technical park of agro industrial complex will be enlarged by 300 highly productive tractors of Case brand in the nearest time.

Watering of smooth fields and ridges is carried out in all cotton-growing regions of the country. Flushing watering of salt territories is intensively conducted in the Lebap and Dashoguz regions. Repair is being conducted in full swing. Sowing-machines, cotton cultivators, other agricultural mechanisms and units are restored and checked.

Presently, sowing seeds are distributed in the country given natural-soil conditions of territories and upon the plan approved by the Turkmen Ministry of Agriculture,

It is planned to increase volumes of cotton storage owing to rational use of land, water resources, agricultural technique and mineral fertilizers, high qualitative agro technical maintenance.
