Consumer goods sale up in Azerbaijan

In January-May, Azerbaijan's trade networks sold consumers goods to population worth 4.6 billion manat, which is by 8.2 percent more than the same period in 2008, the Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee reported.

Of the total amount, three billion manat fell to food products, 1.6 billion manat - non-food. Growth in sales of both types of goods amounted to 10.8 and 3.1 percent respectively compared to the same period of 2008.

In this period, the population was rendered paid services worth 1.4 billion manat, by increasing 12.9 percent.

Some 79.8 percent of the services fell to enterprises and 20.2 percent - to individuals, with an increase to 13.7 and 9.9 percent respectively.

Of the total turnover of retail sales, 15.3 percent was carried out by enterprises, 43.5 percent - individuals in organized fairs and markets, and only 41.2 percent of sales fell to private entrepreneurs.
