Azerbaijan's AzSigorta insurance company plans to organize all-republic conference on importance of insurance of agricultural risks in autumn 2009, AzSigorta Deputy Director Khayal Mammadkhanli said.
"We postponed conference to be held in summer till autumn," he said.
He said the conference will be held together with Agriculture Ministry.
He said the conference aims to assure farmers of importance of this type of insurance given level of risk in agriculture.
"I think the conference will be an important step towards the development of agricultural insurance as the Azerbaijani farmers do not insure their farm because of the lack of the necessary and accurate information," he said.
AzSigorta insurance company has operated on country's insurance market since November 2006 and has 28 kinds of insurance services, three of which are mandatory. The company also provides services of agricultural insurance. In 2008, the company paid 29,000 manats for insurance of crops and 3,900 for insurance of livestock.
