Astrakhan intends to resume air communication with Turkmenistan

Presently, there is necessity in renewal of direct air communication between Turkmenistan and Astrakhan, minister of international and foreign economic relations Denis Afanasyev told Turkmen media outlets. 

"It would give good impetus to stir up business-contacts and tourists visits. It has good prospects given opening of national tourist zone Avaza (in Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea), he said in Azerbaijan interview with state news agency Turkmen Dovlet Haberleri on July 3. 

Astrakhan is bordering region of the Russian Federation situated on junction of trade ways and transport corridors. Interaction with Turkmenistan will strengthen more by adoption of new law of the Russian Federation. Upon the law so-called customs cleaning of goods will be conducted on border, Afanasyev said.  

So, Turkmen goods passed through border in Astrakhan will be transported all over the territory without problems. In its turn, Astrakhan is interested in transit potentialities of Turkmenistan to transport Russian goods, especially to Afghanistan. 

Astrakhan's universities and technical schools are ready for adoption of Turkmen students on a variety of specialties, Afanasyev said. This list includes professions connected with shipping and fishing. Preliminary agreement was reached with Turkmen State Committee for Tourism and Sport. Upon this agreement, students will be trained to be specialists for national tourist industry in future.

Interaction in economic sphere was stressed during Ashgabat talks. For example, Astrakhan suggests energy equipment for developing energy system of Turkmenkistan, construction materials, ships and tools for fishing, technologies of industrial sturgeon fishing, as well as constriction of exploring platforms for Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, etc. 

Astrakhan's delegation will arrive in Turkmenbashi to hold talks in sea steamship. It is very important for both sides amid the inter-state agreement signed between Turkmenisatn and the Russian Federation. This agreement envisages direct international railroad-ferry boat communication via ports of Turkmenbashi and Olya (Astrakhan) and acceleration of freight stream.
