In Kazakhstan, the average inflation was 8.7 percent in the first six month of 2009, which is by 10.3 percent less than in June 2008, Economy and Budget Planning Minister, Bakhyt Sultanov, reported at the governmental meeting on Aug.18.
According to Sultanov, in December 2008 - June 2009 the inflation attained 3.9 percent, which was 1.8 percent less than in June 2008.
As a result of measures taken to regulate inflation, it was possible to slow down increase of price in the consumer market, Sultanov added.
The highest increase in prices for consumer commodities and services was recorded in South-Kazakhstan (4.4%), Atyrau (4.0%) areas, Akmola, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan regions and cities Astana (by 3,7%) and Almaty (4.6%), Sulatnov added.
