EBRD increases forecast on Azerbaijan's GDP growth by 1.9 percent

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has raised the forecast on Azerbaijan's GDP growth for 2010 from 7.1 to 9 percent.

In 2011, GDP growth is forecast to reach 8 percent. Projections for 2010 and 2011 are among the highest in the region, after Turkmenistan (14 percent in 2010 and 13 percent in 2011), including Central Europe, Central Asia and Turkey, covering 30 countries.

The average GDP growth for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus in 2010 is predicted at 4 percent, and 4.2 percent in 2011.

The average growth for all countries with economies in transition is 3.3 percent in 2010 and 3.8 percent in 2011. The bank had previously predicted the figure for the current year at 2.5 percent.
