Azerbaijan suspends production of some bread types

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.24 / Trend /

The State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development has suspended production of a diet bread and bread Chovdar in the bakery, located in Badamdar, suburbs of Baku, the Ministry reported.

"Imtiyaz Babayev, a shop owner, was ordered to suspend production of these bread varieties and to observe the legal requirements in the manufacturing process," the ministry reported.

Babayev was prosecuted due to violating antimonopoly legislation, misleading consumers and holding unfair competition.

This decision was made due to the lack of conformity and hygienic certificates for the production of these sorts of bread, including the absence of manufacturer's name on the labels.

The monitoring revealed this fact in a warehouse of the bakery, where first-class flour was kept. However, they sent to the markets bread marked as Chovdar and bread with "bran". Labels of diet bread were also found in the shop.

State Service recommends to consumers not to buy a diet bread and bread Chovdar unless it contains the manufacturer' contacts.
