Georgian PM satisfied with economic activity indicators

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri today at a governmental meeting summed up July’s indicators and noted that economic growth in the first half-year amounted to 5.5 - 6 percent. He said the growth trend continued in July.

Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri today at a governmental meeting summed up July's indicators and noted that economic growth in the first half-year amounted to 5.5 - 6 percent. He said the growth trend continued in July.

"Bank deposits compared to July of last year increased by 44 percent. The amount of deposits is more than $3.9 billion, which is a record figure for Georgia. Vehicle registration indicator increased by 34 percent, while the number of VAT payers - from 25 to 28 percent" Gilauri said.

Gilauri stressed that economic growth was also observed in other sectors. "It is especially necessary to note the growth in the sphere of tourism and export. Number of tourists in the last six months has increased by 33 percent compared to last year. Saving trends in economic growth will assist in creating jobs and solving the unemployment problem," he said.
