Iran increases steel and aluminum production

Steel and aluminum production increased by 4 and 5 percent respectively in Iran for the last six months (a year starts in Iran on March 21), the Iranian Ministry of Industry said.

During the first six months aluminum production hit about 151.500 tons. Roughly 92,000 tons of aluminum, produced in Iran, fall to Iralku Company, about 53.300 tons of aluminum produced at Almahdi complex, about 6.200 tons - Hormzal aluminum plant.

The share of export of aluminum, produced in the first six months of this year at Iralku plant, amounted to about 35.800 tons (worth $ 76.625 million). The export totaled 45,000 tons (worth $ 96 million) at Almahdi aluminum complex.

Steel production totaled 5.7 million tons in Iran for the first half of the year or 4 percent more compared to the same period of the last year.

About 43 percent of total steel production for the first six months of the year are produced at the Mobareke steel complex, 25 percent - Huzestan plant, 22 percent - Zorbahan Isfahan company, 10 percent - the National Iranian Steel Company.

The export of steel and steel products amounted to 264.800 tons (worth $ 157 million) in Iran in the first half of the year.
