Inflation hit 4.4 percent in Kazakhstan in January 2011, Kazakh Republic Statistics Agency said today.
Thus, according to the agency, food prices over the past month increased by 3 percent, non-food goods - by 0.5 percent, paid services - by 1.2 percent.

Last month price increase was observed in bread and cereals by 1.1 percent, buckwheat - by 18.6 percent and wheat - by 4.7 percent, pearl barley - by 3.2 percent, flour - by 1.6 percent . The level of prices for fruits increased by 3.2 percent, fresh vegetables - 12.1 percent, potatoes - by 26.1 percent. The prices for raw milk hit 4.5 percent, meat and poultry - 4.2 percent, eggs - 4 percent, butter and fats - 2.8 percent, sugar - 2.2 percent, cheese and cottage cheese - 2 percent
Diesel prices rose by 2.6 percent, petrol - by 2.5 percent, solid fuel - by 0.8 percent, pharmaceuticals, detergents and cleaning products - by 0.5 percent, clothing and footwear - 0.4 percent, personal care products - by 0.3 percent.
Railway passenger transport services increased in price by 2.2 percent, hairdressing and personal service establishments - by 0.8 percent, mail, restaurants and hotels - by 0.6 percent, health care - by 0.5 percent.
In the sphere of housing and communal services tariffs on hot water increased by 0.9 percent, central heating and cold water - by 1.2 percent, sewerage - by 1.7 percent, garbage collection - by 4 percent, and electricity - by 6.7 percent.
