Agricultural products decrease in Azerbaijan

In May, the production prices for agricultural products decreased by 0.6 percent in Azerbaijan, compared to April, while during January-May increased by13.3 percent compared to the same period last year, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.
Production prices in general for livestock products dropped by 1.3 percent in May compared to the previous month, while in first five months increased by 11.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Cattle in live weight fell by 0.2 percent poultry in live weight and eggs - by 5.5 percent. Prices for sheep and goats in live weight, their milk (unprocessed) and wool declined by 0.2 percent per month.
Production prices for cereals and legumes agricultural products rose by 0.6 percent during the month, during the year - by 28.1 percent, vegetables and melons - fell by 0.9 percent (increasing by 4.4 percent during the year), perennial plants - rose by 1.7 percent (21 percent during the year).
Prices for forestry products in May fell by 0.1 percent during the month, during the year - by 2.2 percent, fish and fish products rose by 8.9 percent, but decreased by 8.6 percent during the year.
In January-May 2011, the agricultural production in Azerbaijan increased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period of last year, including crop production - by 5.7 percent, livestock production - 5.3 percent.
The total cost of agricultural production based on actual prices in January-May amounted to 940.9 million manat, which is 19.4 percent more than the same period of last year.
The cost of forestry products based on actual prices during this period hit 399,500, fishery - 59,100 manat compared.
