Georgian commercial bank deposits increase

The total volume of deposits placed in commercial banks as of July 1, 2011 amounted to 5 billion lari, or 123.5 million lari, or 2.5 percent more than on June 1.

The Georgian National Bank told Trend that the current accounts of business and farm sectors increased by 33 million lari or 1.8 percent compared to the previous month. The growth of urgent deposits amounted to 88.9 million lari, or 3 percent.

The coefficient of dollarization of deposits as of July 1 was 70.1 percent - one percentage point more than on June 1.

The average interest rate of urgent deposits was 8.6 percent, including the national currency - 11.7 percent, foreign currency - 8.1 percent.
