Ukraine to take part in heavy armored vehicles repairs in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan launched a project on repair of heavy armored vehicles in the city of Semey. Ukrainian experts will take an active part in this project, KazTAG reported referring to Ukrainian state corporation UkrSpetsExport.

"The presidents of Ukraine and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on military-technical cooperation. Today, we are implementing some projects within this agreement," the report quoted Dmitry Salamatin, the General Director of Ukrainian State Concern Ukroboronprom, as saying.

According to Salamatin, this joint project will expand military cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ukraine, and strengthen Ukraine's position in Central Asia region in general.

The project was implemented following the signing of several contracts on joint activities between Ukrainian State Concerns Ukroboronprom and UkrSpetsExport and Kazakh National Company Kazakhstan Engineering.

By the end of the year it is planned to repair ten Kazakh T-72 tanks.

According to the UkrSpetsExport, in 2012 plant's production capacity will allow to fulfill Kazakhstan's state defense order on repair of armored vehicles.
