About 31 profitable banks operated in Azerbaijan in December 2011. The number reduced by 1 banks compared to November 2011 and December 2010, the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said on Friday.
In December, total profits in the banking sector hit 187.63 million manat, or 29 percent more compared to the relevant figure in November and by 13.1 percent - in December 2010.
The number of unprofitable banks increased by 1 compared to November and remained unchanged in annual calculation. As a result, the loss of 13 banks amounted to 46.26 million manat, or 33.6 percent more than in November and by 1.5 percent - in December 2010.
