Since May, Azerbaijan Railways JSC will receive its carriages sent earlier to Ukraine for repair, the head of JSC Arif Asgerov told reporters on Wednesday.
Previously, 50 carriages were sent to Ukraine for factory repair due to lack of technology in Azerbaijan for the overhaul of passenger trains.
"At present, the carriages are being repaired in Dnepropetrovsk and from May will begin to arrive in Baku," Asgerov said.
In connection with the repairs, currently trains of Russian Railways are working on passenger trips to Moscow and St. Petersburg. The work of Russian trains on these routes began in February. Regarding the volume of freight, Asgerov noted that in the first quarter freight by rail increased by six per cent.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, in January-March the country's rail transport shipped five million tons of cargo.
