Bangladesh to increase supplies to Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan and Bangladesh have expressed a mutual interest in intensifying trade and economic cooperation during the first meeting of a bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Tashkent, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said today.

Bangladesh delegation was headed by Deputy Trade Minister Mohammad Ghulam Hussain.

"The sides exchanged the views on the prospects of giving a new dynamics to the Uzbek-Bangladesh dialogue on the full range of interaction and full use of existing potential," the report says.

Bangladesh is one of the major and traditional buyers of Uzbek cotton fiber, along with China, UAE, South Korea, India and Russia. It intends to increase the import of cotton from Uzbekistan.

The country plans to increase deliveries of garments, pharmaceuticals, yarn and woven fabrics of jute to Uzbekistan.
