Kazakhstan creates Atomic Energy Agency

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev ordered to create the Atomic Energy Agency, Kazinform reported on Saturday.
"I order to restructure the Industry and New Technologies Ministry through separation of the Atomic Energy Agency and transfer the Ministry's powers in the field of atomic energy, nuclear and radiological safety, physical protection of nuclear materials and nuclear facilities, as well as compliance nonproliferation of nuclear weapons in Kazakhstan to the Agency," the presidential decree said.
Meanwhile the Atomic Energy Committee under the Kazakh Industry and New Technologies Ministry was abolished.
The Presidential Administration controls the execution of this decree.
The decree entered into force on May 7.
