WB to hold talks within national education strategy preparation in Azerbaijan

Baku will hold talks with WB representatives to prepare the National Education Strategy in Azerbaijan.

The WB mission headed by official Meskerem Mulatu will arrive in Baku, the WB Baku Office told Trend on Monday.

"Besides the participation in the consultations, the project will be reviewed," the bank said.

The visit will begin on May 28 and will end on June 7.

"The work carried out within the project is being conducted upon the schedule," the bank said.

A system of strategic planning in the Education Ministry and its departments has been created in Azerbaijan as part of the second WB educational development project in Azerbaijan.

Moreover, about 18,195 primary school teachers were trained within the project.

The cost of the project approved in April 2008 is $45.4 million. The share of the WB loan accounts for $25 million.

Some $11.6 million has been spent from the funds provided by the World Bank by February 2012. The project is planned to be completed in March 31, 2014.
