Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has approved the Turkmen staff of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian commission on cooperation in science and technologies, an official Turkmen source said today.
The document was signed for the further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus.
According to Minsk, bilateral trade turnover between countries in 2011 exceeded $ 230 million. Turkmenistan implements a large project exceeding $1 billion with the participation of Belgorkhimprom. The matter rests in developing potassium salt reserves in Lebap region and constructing a mining and processing complex for the potash fertilizer production.
Traditionally, Belarus was a supplier of machine-building products to Turkmenistan. The new agreements have been recently signed to supply Belarusian agricultural equipment, public passenger transport vehicles to Turkmenistan.
The two countries exchanged trade houses. The aircrafts of "Turkmenistan Airlines" and the national airline "Belavia" regularly make Minsk - Ashgabat flights. It is planned to strengthen new forms of economic partnership, including the use of new information and building technologies in the nearest future.
The cooperation in science and higher education gained a significant impulse. About 6,000 Turkmen citizens study in Belarus.
