Iran will be exporting gas to some EU countries, and to some Persian Gulf countries as well, Fars reported referring to officials from Iran's National Gas company.
The officials noted that three agreements will be signed by Iran's National Gas company for gas exports, to one EU country, and to two Persian Gulf countries.
Fars reports that Iran is currenly in talks with Switzerland and Greece regarding gas exports.
During the 5-year development plan, Iran must export around 200 million cubic meters of gas to Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and UAE, according to Fars.
Fars notes that currently, Iran exports around 30 million cubic meters of gas to Turkey. In 2014 Iran will be exporting some 25 million cubic meters of gas to Pakistan.
The Islamic republic has also signed contracts to export its gas to Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.
Iran's natural has production (excluding gas flares or recycled gas) has increased in 2011 by 5,6 bcm compared to 2010, according to BP's June 2012 World Energy review report,
n 2010 Iran's natural gas production was estimated at 146,2 bcm, and this figure reached 151,8 bcm in 2011. Iran holds first place among naturas gas producing countries in the region, followed by Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The country currently responsible for 4,66 percent of world's natural gas reserves.
The Islamic Republic's gas consumption has also increased by 6,1 percent in 2011 compared to 2010. In 2010 Iran consumed 146,6 bcm, while in 2011 consumption increased to 153,3 bcm.
