Azerbaijani foreign trade turnover’s black ink reaches almost $9 bln

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC) announced results of foreign trade operations with 140 countries in Jan.-July 2012, the State Committee said on Saturday.

The country's total trade turnover amounted to $19.38 billion, or 5.94 percent less compared to the same period of 2011.

Black ink worth $8.78 billion was formed in foreign-trade operations.

During this period 6,928 legal entities and individuals were involved in the foreign-trade operations, 3,245 of them were legal entities, while 3,683 individuals.

Export operations amounted to $14.08 billion for the first seven months of 2012 or 9.05 percent less compared to the same period of 2011.

Share of public sector in export amounted to $13.31 billion (94.54 percent), private sector - $684 million (4.85 percent), share of individuals - $84.1 million (0.59 percent).

As of the first seven months, import hit $5.299 billion or 3.47 percent less compared to the same period of 2011.

Share of public sector in import operations amounted to $1.094 billion (20.64 percent), private sector - $3.94 billion (74.48 percent), individuals - $257.74 million (4.92 percent).

Azerbaijan exported 1,796 types of commodities and imported 5,694 types in Jan.-July.
