Construction of a cotton spinning mill with a design capacity of approximately 6000 tons of yarn per year has begun in the east of Turkmenistan, in the city of Seidi (Lebap province), the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The factory will be a compact plant. The main production building, shops and supporting facilities as well as warehouses will be located at an area of about five hectares. Infrastructure, an independent life support system, including facilities of water, electricity, heat and gas supply will be built.

'Modern equipment and a high level of automation of the production cycle will further increase the export potential of the domestic textile industry, as the main part of the plant's products will be supplied to the world market', the article says.

Special attention is to be given to measures to protect the environment. Preference will be given to environmentally friendly engineering solutions and advanced technologies that will contribute not only to the effectiveness of conservation measures, but also to a reduction in the industrial waste.

In parallel with the construction of a new industrial textile facility in the province, capital reconstruction and modernising by re-equipment of the existing cotton mill with a production capacity of 4000 tons of yarn per year is also planned.

Training, as well as providing the processing equipment installed in the industries with spare parts for two years after the launch will be funded by a foreign company which is entrusted with the construction and reconstruction of the site.

Commissioning of the new plant in Seidi and modernised factory in Turkmenabat will increase the productive capacity of the textile industry of Lebap province, which already has a number of these specialised companies.

Among them is Turkmenistan's largest cotton spinning mill put into operation in October 2009 in Turkmenabat with a capacity of 17,700 tons of yarn per year.
