German Airport Consulting Partners subsidiary ILF Consulting Engineers has been announced as the winner of the international tender to select a consulting company to control the construction of new international airports in Turkmenistan, an official Turkmen source said on Monday.

The current question is about control over the construction of a number of areas: an airport with a capacity of 1600 passengers per hour in Ashgabat, airports to serve 500 passengers per hour in Turkmenabat and Dashoguz, where construction of artificial runway with length of 3800 m will be built, taxiways and equipping them with ground support operations and reconstruction of the existing platform and construction of centralised aircraft refuelling facilities.

In August it was reported that Turkish Polimeks, the Ukrainian LLC 'Financial and Industrial Group Altcom' and the Turkish company Belda presented their bids in Ashgabat.

German companies EWC and Hoshtief, and the French Bouygues and VINCI Construction have also been involved in the international tender for the capital's airport from the very beginning.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov recently said that today Germany is one of the most active partners in the socio-economic development of modern Turkmenistan.

'Underlining the important contribution of well-known German companies in the construction and equipping of relevant facilities with advanced technologies in various fields, the President expressed confidence that the German specialists' participation in the development of ground infrastructure of Turkmen aviation will also result in a high level of European quality and reliability', government report from Ashgabat says.

A delegation from Turkmenistan is in Munich (Germany) from Sept.17-18, to study issues relating to the construction and maintenance of major international airports.
