Saudi Arabia has manufactured the first domestic truck of Japanese brand ISUZU, Al Arabiya TV channel reported.
According to Saudi Trade and Industry Minister Tawfiq al-Rabiah, Saudi Arabia will start exporting trucks by 2017. At the first stage it is planned to export 9,800 units of vehicles.
As al-Rabiah said, it is expected that the Kingdom will manufacture 25,000 trucks by 2017. Next year, Saudi Arabia will manufacture about 6,000 vehicles.
From 2017, Saudi Arabia will start exporting 40 percent of domestically manufactured vehicles, he said.
Manufacturing and export of vehicles is one of the strategic projects of the authorities of the Kingdom in order to reduce dependence on energy sector incomes.
