During the declared public holiday days-off, Azerbaijan Railways will operate in an emergency mode, the head of company's press service Nadir Azmammadov told Trend.

The celebration of the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year, December 31- January 2 (inclusive) have been declared non-working days in Azerbaijan.

"In order to ensure the safety and transportation of all passengers during the holidays, the company will operate in emergency mode," Azmammadov said.

He said preliminary work is being carried out in anticipation of the holidays. In particular, additional carriages are being prepared that will be attached to all trains operating in the country.

Azmammadov also noted that the travel companies appealed to Azerbaijan Railways with proposals for the organisation of a tourist train to Georgia during the holidays. In the case of a large passenger flow, the company will organise an additional run.

"If the passenger flow is not sufficient to launch a tourist train, additional carriages will be attached to the trains operating in the direction of Georgia," Azmammadov said.
