Azerbaijan's foreign exchange market grows by 47 per cent

The total volume of trading in the currency section of the Baku Interbank Currency Exchange (BBVB) on the USD/AZN in March increased by 47 per cent compared to the previous month, according to a statement of the exchange released on Tuesday.

The total volume of trading in the currency section of the Baku Interbank Currency Exchange (BBVB) on the USD/AZN in March increased by 47 per cent compared to the previous month, according to a statement of the exchange released on Tuesday.

In total, 10 banks took part in the trading with 30 sessions being conducted and 24 transactions registered in the reporting month.

The trading volume on the USD / AZN_TOD amounted to 27.048 million manat or $34,465 million, whereas turnover on Swap_USD/AZN_TOD_1Week amounted to 20.391 million ($26 million).

The average rate of the dollar to manat on this tool amounted to 0.7848 AZN.
The average daily turnover in the Bourse E-System of Trades on USD/AZN reached approximately $4,031 million, resulting in the average volume of each transaction making $2,519 million.

The exchange rate of national currency tool USD / AZN_TOD in the reporting month rose by 0.01 per cent from 0.7837 to 0.7836 manat to the U.S. dollar. The average rate of the U.S. dollar against the manat was 0.7848 manat per one USD in March 2013.

According to the March 2013 results, the total trading volume on the Organised Interbank Credit Market functioning in the framework of BEST, totalled two million manat.

The monthly average interest rate calculated on the basis of demands of market makers banks in BakIBOR loans within 90 days in March 2013, amounted to 11.21 per cent per annum in manat and 11.84 per cent per annum in U.S. dollars. The interest rate on BakIBID up to 90 days was 5.65 per cent per annum in manat and 5.22 per cent in U.S. dollars.
