German company to supply equipment for cement plant’s construction in Uzbekistan

Turkish Dal Teknik Makina Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. has entered into a contract with the German firm Gebr. Pfeiffer SE for the supply of the Pfeiffer MPS 3350 cement mill for the production of grey and white cement, a representative at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine which is the project’s customer, told Trend on Thursday.

Turkish Dal Teknik Makina Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. has entered into a contract with the German firm Gebr. Pfeiffer SE for the supply of the Pfeiffer MPS 3350 cement mill for the production of grey and white cement, a representative at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine which is the project's customer, told Trend on Thursday.

According to the source, the supply of equipment is scheduled for between late 2013 to early 2014, while putting the mill into operation will take place during the first half of 2014.

As previously reported, in July of last year, the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC, Tashkent region) and Turkish Dal Teknik Makina Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. signed a contract to build a cement plant in Uzbekistan worth $114.2 million.

The contract worth $97.6 million was signed with the Turkish company to develop documentation of the process, for the supply and installation supervision, turnkey construction and installation and commissioning work. In turn, AMMC will implement career improvement, construction of the production infrastructure and other work costing $16.6 million.

The cement plant with a design capacity of 350,000 tons of white cement and 760,000 tons of Portland cement will be built in the Jizakh region.

Implementation of the project with participation of Turkish companies was approved by a decree of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

Technical support to the project will be provided by Uzstroymateriali AC which includes the company producing building materials. The project is planned to be implemented by 2014.

The project is financed by a loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan to the sum of $74.2 million and AMMC's equity of $40 million. The Uzbek government has provided a number of customs and tax benefits to AMMC and Dal Teknik Makina within this project.

According to AMMC experts, commissioning the cement plant will fully cover the needs of the combine in cement and direct up to 200,000 tons per year in the domestic market and export.

To date, there are six cement plants in Uzbekistan with a total installed capacity of about seven million tons. The largest ones are Kyzylkumcement JSC - 3.15 million tons, Akhangarancement JSC - 1.74 million tons and Kuvasaycement JSC - 1.107 million tons.
