The Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund's management has instructed Kazakhtelecom company to intensify the work to improve Internet services, Samruk- Kazyna press-service said today.
The instructions were made following the meeting to take necessary measures to maintain the leading position in the information communication market, to strengthen the work to promote services of fixed and mobile broadband Internet and to improve their quality. The company's management must ensure timely and qualitative implementation of major strategic projects for the creation of fiber-optic networks FTTH and introduction of LTE mobile network in the country.
Kazakhtelecom company organized direct interconnections with leading operators in all border countries to implement the transit potential. Previously, Turkmenistan was the only exception. But the construction and attachment operations in the networks of Kazakhtelecom and Turkmentelecom have been completed. Thus, Kazakhtelecom has been formed as the Central Asian telecommunications hub.
The issues on the implementation of Kazakhtelecom's development plan for 2011-2015 as of the first half of 2013 and tasks for the second half of 2013 were also discussed. The consolidated net profit amounted to about 10.7 billion tenge or 3.7 times more than the planned amount.
Kazakhtelecom representatives reported that during the reporting period, the amount of capital investment was 11.6 billion tenge. Kazakhtelecom mastered 1.4 billion tenge within such strategic projects as the construction of FTTH networks (Fiber to the Home) and 2.2 billion tenge in the introduction of LTE / GSM / UMTS networks.
A report on the status of fulfilling Samruk - Kazyna's expectations as a shareholder of Kazakhtelecom and annual work plan on the implementation of Samruk - Kazyna's strategy for 2012-2022 was also heard. Most of the tasks set for the company in the first half of 2013 have been fulfilled completely and on time.
