West Kazakhstan oblast plans to export over 300 tons of beef to Russia by late 2013

Over 300 tons of beef will be exported from the West Kazakhstan oblast (province) to Russia till late 2013, the oblast's Mayor, Nurlan Nogayev said during a briefing held at the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan.

Over 300 tons of beef will be exported from the West Kazakhstan oblast (province) to Russia till late 2013, the oblast's Mayor, Nurlan Nogayev said during a briefing held at the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan.

"Today, there is a fattening ground meant for 9600 head of cattle. In 2014, when it is expected to reach full capacity, some 270 tons of meat per year will be produced, as well as 1040 tons of meat will be sent for export. Today 70 tons of meat is being exported to Russia, whereas it is planned to increase this figure to 330 tons till the end of this year," Nogayev said.

Aside from this, the oblast's head underlined that it is planned to build a plant in the oblast for the production of chicken meat.

"We are realizing a number of investment projects as part of providing food security. I would like to underline that next year we are planning to build a chicken meat producing plant with a capacity of 6,500 tons per year. At the moment, a meat-packing plant for processing of 1,200 head of sheep is also being constructed in the Chapayev region," he said.
