Iranian Aviation Company ready to restart direct Iran-US flights

By Umid Niayesh, Saeed Isayev - Trend: Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran Air) is ready to restart direct flight from the country to the United States with its Boeing 747 airplanes, managing Director of Iran Air, Farhad Parvaresh said, Fars news agency reported on Nov.18.

On behalf of Iran Air, Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was informed about the upcoming flights, Parvaresh said.

Without mentioning the exact US cities, to which Iran Air would be re-launching flights, Parvaresh recalled that Iran Air earlier had direct flights to New York.

On September 30, Iranian media outlets quoted the caretaker of the High Council of Iranian Affairs Abroad, Akbar Torkan as saying that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has ordered a study of the feasibility of such a flight.

"Rouhani stressed providing better services to Iranians across the globe," Torkan added.

On October 2, head of the ICAO, Hamid Reza Pahlavani said that establishing direct flight from Iran to the United States is on agenda of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

He went on to note that, establishing a direct flight between the two countries requires cooperation between civil aviation organizations` coordination.
