Georgian cattle exports to Azerbaijan decrease slightly

Some 2,280 tons of cattle in live weight worth $5.87 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-February 2014, according to a report from the Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat).

Throughout the reporting period the specific weight of this category among all Georgian exports to Azerbaijan stood at 7.88 percent, according to the report.

Compared with the same period of last year, the cattle exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-February 2014 decreased by 3.29 percent or by 100 tons. For comparison, some 2,380 tons of cattle in live weight and worth $6.07 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-February 2013.

In January-February, 2014 Georgia exported to Azerbaijan goods worth $74.53 million or 24.3 percent of the country's total exports over the reporting period.

The exports to Azerbaijan decreased by 14.47 percent compared to the same period of 2013. For comparison, in January-February 2013, Georgian goods exported to Azerbaijan amounted to $87.14 million.

Azerbaijan retains the second place in the list of Georgia's largest trade partners. Georgian exports to Azerbaijan include vehicles, cattle (in live weight), iron reinforcements, cement, mineral water, glass and glass products and medicines.

Azerbaijan's exports to Georgia include oil and petroleum products, natural gas, trucks and construction materials.
