Turgay Teymurov, EY Partner and Oil & Gas Leader for Azerbaijan, made a presentation on "Sustainable development of oil & gas projects: challenges and mutual interests of IOCs and NOCs" at the 21st Caspian Oil & Gas Conference, which took place at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku on 4 June 2014.

"Oil and gas projects have a strong impact on the development of producing countries. One of the key challenges is to find the right balance between maximizing short-term economic benefits and ensuring the long-term sustainable development of the project and the country. A very important element in long-term success is building local capabilities and knowledge. Azerbaijan has made great progress in this area thanks to continued efforts by SOCAR, BP and the other oil majors present in the country. I would like to emphasize that Azerbaijani specialists have always been highly valued for their oil and gas skills and knowledge. Programs focused on developing technical professionals will help our experts to maintain and further improve their skill sets. As a result local talent will continue to enjoy high demand all over the world and to contribute to the nation's development," Turgay said.

The Caspian Oil & Gas Conference has become a traditional meeting place for oil and gas industry specialists from around the world, serving as a striking example of industry achievements and of the level of interest in Caspian region projects.
