Russia wants to learn from Azerbaijan's experience in the field of postal banking, member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, deputy chairman of the Committee on Financial Markets Dmitry Savelyev said at a round table "Development of inter-bank cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan" as part of the fifth Azerbaijani-Russian Interregional Cooperation Forum, to be held in Qabala region on June 23-24.

"It is very gratifying to see that such direction of banking business as postal banking has been developed in Azerbaijan," he said.

"We are now working on it though not so successfully as Azerbaijan," he said. "The territory of Russia is large. It has remote areas. Therefore, we would like to learn Azerbaijan's experience in terms of organizing the activity of the postal operator - Azerpost, to see how it works and to take into account developments for organizing such a system in Russia."

Azerpost is the state postal operator of Azerbaijan. It has an extensive branch network - over 1,600 branches (about 340 branches render services to the population in cities, district centers and settlements, and the rest - in the rural areas) throughout the country. It is entitled to render a range of banking services, including settlement of transactions and accepting deposits.
