Turkmenistan seeking consultant for construction of high-speed motorway

Turkmen Road Transport Ministry is planning to conclude a contract with German company Inros Lackner SE to render consulting services for the construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi high-speed motorway.

The contract will be concluded "to ensure the high quality of the nationally important roads under construction" according to an order of the Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The German consulting company will need to work out a concept, develop the requirements specification, as well as to monitor the motorway's compliance with international standards.

The project's realization will start in Sept. 2014.

The Road Transport Ministry has been set as a customer for the design and construction of the motorway, while the Turkmenawtoyollary (Turkmen Motorways) State Concern will be a general contractor.

It is planned to build filling stations, car service centers, hotels and other facilities along the motorway.

Turkmenistan is developing a program for construction of motorways of national importance between 2014 and 2023, which provides, inter alia, a gradual modernization of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat-Farap and Ashgabat-Dashoguz motorways.
