Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.24

By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

Lower rates for international flights, particularly to the cities of Russia, from regional airports in Azerbaijan compared with Baku are related to airport charges for aircraft service, the deputy head of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) Sabir Ilyasov told reporters Sept.24.

Another reason for the establishment of the lower rates in the regional airports is that the costs for commissioning of the aircrafts, available on the balance of AZAL, are much higher than the costs of maintaining of aircraft airlines offering flights to the regions of Azerbaijan, he said. This is due to the high cost of aircrafts operated by JSC.

"But we try to keep the level of tariffs in order to ensure healthy competition," said Ilyasov.

Currently, AZAL fleet consists of "Boeing 757-200", "Boeing 767-300", "Airbus 319", "Airbus A320", "Airbus A340-500", "Embraer ERJ 170-100LR" and "Embraer ERJ 190-100" aircrafts.
