The donor-organizations will allocate six million euros to Georgia for the border management, the head of the Border Police Zurab Gamezardashvili told reporters Nov. 24.
"The donor conference on border management was held Nov. 24," Gamezardashvili said. "Our European and Western friends saw that our country made huge investments in the border infrastructure. Therefore, they expressed their willingness to invest six million euros in further border management."
"Three million of this amount will be used for technical equipment of the Georgian-Turkish border, where the demarcation was conducted," he said. "The remaining three million euros will be used for the construction of new infrastructure on the Georgian-Azerbaijani border, its technical equipment and full modernization."
During the donor conference Gamezardashvili summed up the reforms and infrastructure projects implemented in the Border Police in 2014. A five-year program of standardization, modernization and unification of the Georgian Border Police was also submitted.
