Demand for Russian ruble increases in Kazakhstan

During the last five months in Kazakhstan demand for Russian rubles increased

During the last five months in Kazakhstan demand for Russian rubles increased, said a statement of Ranking.kz analytical service.

"Sales of the Russian currency in Kazakhstan rose by a quarter in October and more than doubled for 2014, and reached 11.2 billion rubles," said a statement.

The report said that the sales of the Russian ruble by exchange offices grew in 15 regions of Kazakhstan. Pavlodar region (an increase of 420 million - up to 0.9 billion rubles) and East Kazakhstan region (an increase of 394 million - up to 1.6 billion rubles) are leaders in this field at the rate of 46.42 ruble/$1.

The demand for the Russian ruble was recorded only in the South Kazakhstan region.

The maximum volume of purchases of Russian ruble were recorded in Almaty (1.6 billion rubles), Astana (1 billion rubles) and the regions bordering with Russia (East Kazakhstan region - 1.6 billion rubles, Pavlodar - 0.96 billion rubles, North Kazakhstan region - 0.86 billion rubles). The sales of the Russian ruble in the national currency of Kazakhstan for the period totaled 50 billion KZT (180.87 KZT/$1).

The sales volumes of the Russian currency increased more than twice in nine regions of Kazakhstan for 2014. In West Kazakhstan region, the demand for rubles increased by almost 5 times.
