Turkey to change vehicle sale conditions

Turkey will change the vehicle sale conditions, Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported Jan. 29.

A new law on vehicle sales is expected to be adopted in Turkey, the newspaper reported citing the sources in the parliament.

It was also reported that after the law is adopted, the auto dealers will have to obtain a license.
A special item on one-year- warranty for used cars is being considered to be included in the law.

Currently, Turkey has no guarantees on used cars.

It was earlier reported that four million new cars were sold in Turkey in 2010-2014 (five years), the Turkish Automotive Distributors' Association said.

Around 2.911 million of the total account for passenger cars, while 1.112 million - commercial vehicles.

Around 760,913 new cars were sold in Turkey in 2010- 864,439 cars in 2011 -777,761 cars in 2012- 853,378 cars in 2013- 767,681 cars in 2014.

The number of cars hit 18,693,972 in Turkey in the first ten months of 2014, the Turkish Statistics Institute said.

Cars accounted for 52.2 percent of the total number of vehicles in Turkey, trucks - 16.3 percent, motorcycles - 14.8 percent, tractors - 8.6 percent, buses - 6.4 percent, other vehicles - 1.7 percent, according to the Statistics Institute.

Around 41.4 percent of vehicles in the country run on liquefied petroleum gas, 29.3 percent - gasoline and 29.6 percent on diesel fuel.

Turkey ranks sixth in Europe for motor vehicle production.

The cars of Ford, FIAT, Renault, Toyota, Honda, Opel, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and MAN brands are assembled in Turkey.

Turkey also manufactures domestic brand buses, such as BMC, Temsa and Otokar.
